A Shakey Financial System
I was also blessed to have the opportunity to put together nineteen podcasts, the most popular of which was “Radio Lux Lucet 88: Is the Financial System About to Break?” from June 19, 2022. Among other things, this podcast discussed the obvious instability in the financial system. In the ensuing 6 months, nothing has changed to alter my opinion that our financial system is hanging by a thread. Many of the best financial commentators I follow are concerned about a serious recession in 2023. Many of them see this recession as starting in the first half of 2023. Some are even calling for it to start this month, January 2023. Financial predictions are tricky things. This is even more so today since central banks and governments have more ability than ever before to rig markets to keep at bay the disastrous consequences of their money printing and deficit spending. But all this can kicking comes at a price. At some point, the distortions in the economy become so great that they can no longer be whitewashed away. The result will be an even bigger collapse than what would have happened had the powers that be not intervened to prop up markets but simply let them correct. This massive collapse, what economist Ludwig von Mises called a ‘crack-up boom” – lies somewhere in our future. It may come in 2023, or perhaps the authorities will stave it off again through massive money printing. But at some point, the jig will be up, and America and the West will have to take the pain of over 100 years of economic and political mismanagement.
The Exposure of the Deep State
Over the years, I’ve written quite a bit about the Deep State, the permanent bureaucracy that runs the federal government behind the scenes. As time goes by, it seems less and less we are governed by our elected officials and more and more ruled with a rod of iron by our Deep State masters and their acolytes in the mainstream press, the schools and universities, the entertainment industry, and even in large corporations and Wall Street.
Though it was not among the most read posts of the year, what I think was one of the most important posts from 2022 was “The Twitter Files: There’s Fascism in Your Social Media” from December 11. The thrust of this post was a discussion of the Twitter Files, the revelation of Twitter’s close work with the FBI, the 2020 Biden campaign, the CDC, and other governmental entities to censor the First Amendment free speech rights of the American people. These files have become public as a result of Elon Musk’s recent purchase of Twitter and have confirmed, in Musk’s own words, that “almost every conspiracy theory that people had about Twitter turned out to be true.”
Working with various government agencies, especially the FBI, Twitter silenced the voices of countless Americans who questioned the official narrative on a wide range of topics. One of the biggest bombshells was the very clear suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story at there request of the FBI, showing that the nation’s top law enforcement agency has become politicized.
For several years, conservatives and other dissenters have complained about the obviously heavy-handed tactics of the major social media platforms in limiting debate on important topics. This author had a video pulled from YouTube that explored the links between the Jesuits and the deadly Covid shots. It’s not that the information in the video was false, it’s that the establishment did and does not want people to hear it. When dissenters complained about these tactics, regime supporters would retort, “well, Twitter (or YouTube, or Facebook, or Instagram, etc.) is a private company and can censor whom they want. If you don’t like it, go start your own social media company.”
That retort always seemed highly disingenuous to this author. One reason I say “disingenuous” is because the people who uttered this retort were not in the least bit concerned with the private property rights of Twitter, Facebook, et. al. They were socialists and did not care at all for private property or limited government but only pretended to be concerned about these things as a way of wrongfooting Americans who did care about liberty.
A second reason that the retort “start your own social media company” rang hollow with me was that it made no economic sense for Twitter and other social media outlets to “deplatform” a large number of their star content creators who had done so much to draw subscribers to their channels and drive growth and profitability on the platform. The social media companies seemed to be cutting off their nose to spite their face. The only reasonable explanation for this behavior, in my opinion, was behind-the-scenes government involvement with social media outlets. While there had been some proof of this in the past, the Twitter files blew the lid off the story and removed any doubt that the government was using Twitter and other social media platforms to censor free speech in a way that the government itself was prohibited from doing by the Constitution. You could think of it as the government outsourcing tyranny.
And speaking of the exposure of the Deep State, a story that I didn’t cover in 2022 but which I probably should have was Tucker Carlson’s recent story on the Kennedy assassination. In this summary by the Gateway Pundit, we read that per Carlson, a source confirmed that an unnamed source confirmed that the CIA was, in fact, in on Kennedy’s murder. Now you could dismiss this revelation as simply old news. After all, many reliable sources over the years, including Ron Paul, have discussed the CIA’s likely involvement in the Kennedy assassination. But what’s interesting here is that this is now coming from mainstream sources such as Fox News, Megan Kelly, and even Robert F. Kennedy Jr. himself. In the Gateway Pundit article, RFK JR. is quoted as saying that Carlson’s report was “the most courageous newscast in 60 years and that “The CIA’s murder of my uncle was a successful coup d’état from which our democracy has never recovered.”
Will the continuing exposure of the Deep State lead to a crisis in confidence in the U.S. government? Very obviously, the 2020 elections were rigged to oust Donald Trump. That much was shown in the Twitter Files releases. How much more of this will the nation be able to take without some sort of confrontation taking place? I don’t know the answer to this, but it seems like things have the potential to come to a boiling point in 2023. This will be especially true if we get the financial collapse that many are calling for.
Rome’s Immigration Assault on America
I’ve gotten this far in my review of 2022 and haven’t even come close to mentioning the huge story of Rome’s immigration assault on America. Perhaps more than any story, I’ve covered this the most in 2022 and plan on continuing to do so in 2023. Although the major news outlets, apart from Fox News, seem determined to ignore the invasion of our southern border by millions of illegal aliens, this is a story with existential implications for the United States. It’s come down to this, either this policy comes to an end, or our constitutional republic is over.
I won’t comment anymore on immigration at this point, but I’m quite sure that this story will continue to feature prominently in my writing in 2023.
Closing Thoughts
As Christians, we are called to face the future with faith in Christ Jesus. These are difficult times we live in, but by God’s grace, those who trust in Christ can be salt and light in the world and witnesses to the salvation that is found only in him even, and perhaps most especially, in the darkest of time.
May the Lord grant you and your family grace in the new year to hold fast to your confession, trusting wholly in Christ whatever comes your way.
