Time was when the recruiting slogan of the US Marine Corps was The Few, The Proud, The Marines. Petty catchy, that. But, alas, such talk is unfit for the new order of the ages which is fast upon us.
No, in times like these, more inclusive slogans are what’s needed. And after reading this piece from the Army Times, I think I have just what the PC doctor ordered. From henceforth, I propose that the Marines use the following, safe-space approved slogan: The Few. The Proud. The Transgendered.
As the story, titled “Sailors, Marines will be able to declare transgender status this fall,” reports,
Following the Defense Department’s lifting of the ban on transgender service members in June, the Navy Department is preparing to provide medical and administrative support for transitioning sailors and Marines, train personnel on the particulars of serving in a transgender-inclusive force and, by next summer, accept transgender recruits into boot camp….transgender sailors and Marines may serve openly and cannot be involuntarily separated or denied re-enlistment for their gender identity…
When I showed this to a friend at lunch today, his reaction was, “The end is near.” And really, it’s hard to argue with his comment. The government really has only two jobs, punishing evildoers – this Biblical provides justification for, among other things, a nation having a defense force – and praising the good, which means the laws put forth by the civil magistrate ought to line up with the Ten Commandments.
But in this and in many other recent cases, what we see is the government calling evil good and good evil. Profoundly confused people who have made sinful choices are lifted up as paradigms of virtue, while those who object will find themselves walking the plank, so to speak.
People often compare the current state of the US to the late Roman Empire in its declension. And there certainly are parallels between Rome and the US. For my part, I believe a better place to look is to Old Testament Israel. For a significant part of the Old Testament, in particular the historical books, could be subtitled “The Decline and Fall of the Hebrew Republic.”
People often forget, but Israel was a republic from the time of its first settling in Canaan until the prophet Samuel anointed Saul king, a period of about 400 years. This change from republican government to monarchy represented the beginning of the decline of the nation as it traded the small government ordained by God for a big government monarchy, the full effects of which were not seen for some time afterwards.
By the time of Isaiah roughly 300 years later, and before the nation had entered its terminal decline, God spoke through the prophet about the sorry state of the nation, saying, “From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it.” And why was the nation is such a mess? Again speaking through Isaiah tells us, “Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge.”
As John Robbins put is, “The consistent message of the Bible is that God gives knowledge and wisdom to those who are to be saved; and withholds knowledge and wisdom from those who are to be destroyed” (The Church Irrational).
And this principle held not only for Israel, but also for the surrounding nations. Again Isaiah prophesies, this time about Egypt, saying, “I will destroy their counsel…and the Egyptians I will give into the hand of a cruel master.”
So that brings us back to the present. One could go on and on about the manifest evils of the homosexual agenda, how like a cancer it has destroyed nearly every organ of the body politic. But that would be to repeat what has already been said many times before.
What’s worth considering is, though, is the comment of my friend, who said that the end is near. If God has so destroyed the minds of our public officials (and he has), so that they actually think an army of drag queens is a competent fighting force, then one must wonder, has God decided to destroy the West in general and the United States in particular?
I do not know for certain the answer to that question. But with each passing day the answer seems more and more to be yes.
“The consistent message of the Bible is that God gives knowledge and wisdom to those who are to be saved; and withholds knowledge and wisdom from those who are to be destroyed.”
Since knowledge and wisdom are withheld from ungodly rulers, and this logically leads to the destruction of a nation, (since such rulers cannot please God), then the only way to combat that is by bringing the Gospel of God to our leaders with the prayer that the Lord will convert them.
Likewise, one further implication of the above is that ungodly rulers are already a sign of God’s judgement on that nation.
Are these two conclusions wrong, given what Dr Robbins wrote? Thx Steve.
