In his official resignation letter, Biden indicated that he would “stand down” from seeking reelection and “focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
This can be seen as a concession to Biden. Many commentators have pointed out the logical conflict between Biden stepping down from his reelection campaign while at the same time remaining in office. If he’s mentally unfit to run for reelection, how is he fit to remain in office? While Biden’s letter did not mention the reason for his “standing down” from seeking reelection, very obviously the reason is the pressure brought by the Democrats due to his disastrous performance in last month’s debate with Trump.
Shortly after issuing his letter ending his reelection campaign, Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, posting on X, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.” This makes Harris the odds-on favorite to be the Democrat nominee for president in 2024.
Harris is not a viable candidate and, in an honest political system, would be nowhere near the levers of national power. Beyond that, as a woman, she has no business running for president nor should any Christian support a woman for president. But we don’t have an honest political system in the United States; rather, we have a deeply confused and corrupted one. Further, the leaven of feminism has been working its way through the American body politic since the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848. One of the chief goals of that convention, women’s suffrage, was achieved in 1920 with the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The passage of that amendment implied a woman president – if a woman can vote for president, a woman can hold the office of president – and this has led even many who are Christians to the conclusion that it is not only possible for a woman to be president, but it would be a good thing, too. But John Knox was right in 1556 when he wrote his piece “The First Blast of the Trumpet against the Monstrous Regiment of Women,”[2] and he is right today in AD 2024.
But while Harris is not a viable candidate, this doesn’t mean she can’t win. The Democrats have a remarkable ability and willingness to rig elections. This goes back to the 19th century and the big-city Roman Catholic, Democrat political machines in places such as New York, Boston, and Chicago.[3] One supposes that they do not have an infinite ability to rig, and what the limits are to their ability to rig I don’t know. But they almost rigged Hillary into office in 2016 and having failed in that attempt, brought out the big bazookas in 2020 and rigged Joe Biden into office, despite his having slept his way through most of the campaign.
And speaking of Hillary, this brings me to the question of whether Hillary Clinton is waiting in the wings. There were lots of rumors on X from well-connected individuals claiming that Hillary was going to replace Biden at the Democratic National Convention next month. It’s probably a long shot at this point since Bill and Hillary Clinton came out in support of Harris today, but with a hyper-ambitious Hillary waiting in the wings, you never know for sure.
Earlier this year, Paul Craig Roberts outlined a scenario in which Hillary could become president. In his piece “What is the Democrats’ Playbook?”[4] from February 2024, Roberts outlined a scenario where “Biden would be moved aside, Kamala would become President, choose Hillary as her Vice President and then resign, having been promised a cabinet of judicial appointment.” It’s possible that Kamala will name Hillary as her running mate at the convention. This seems like a long shot, but it would be a mistake to count out the Clintons. They are, if nothing else, a powerful, tenacious bunch, and ambitious. If Hillary were somehow to end up on the Democrat ticket with Kamala that wins the 2024 election, it seems likely that she’d end up as president at some point, with Kamala being moved to the Supreme Court of some other consolation prize appointment.
I realize the Hillary as president scenario sounds extreme, and it is. But it’s not out of the question. Given the weak alternatives available for the Democrats, it’s a scenario to keep in mind as we approach November.

[2] The Trinity Foundation published an edition of “The Monstrous Regiment of Women” in 1984. This was the year Democrat presidential nominee Walter Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro as his Vice-Presidential running mate, making her the first major-party female nominee on a presidential ticket. Knox’s argument against female civil government is devastating. He wrote, “To promote a woman to bear rule, superiority, dominion, or empire above any realm, nation, or city, is repugnant to nature, contumelious to God, a thing most contrary to his revealed will and approved ordinance, and finally it is the subversion of good order, and of all equity and justice…” and goes on to back up this assertion with reasoning from the Scriptures.
[3] I’ve mentioned this many times in the space, but it’s worth bringing up again the Democrat’s long-standing and well-earned reputation for election fraud. In 1884, Presbyterian minister and Civil War veteran Dr. Samuel D. Burchard referred to the Democrats as “the party whose antecedents have been rum, Romanism, and Rebellion.” In a similar fashion, Protestant minister Joseph Hartwell suggested that New York City’s Roman Catholic, Democrat political machine, Tammany Hall, should be called “Jesuit Hall” due to the powerful influence of that order in New York City’s Democrat ranks. The Jesuits have a nearly 500-year-old reputation for dishonesty and intrigue, even among Roman Catholics.
