Well I hadn’t really planned on writing a Week in Review today. I got stuck with my annual January cold this week and am just now starting to feel better. What’s worse, it’s peak season at work, and that means lots of overtime. But not only is it peak season, it’s peak season with about a third of our staff missing, a new processing software to learn, and just six weeks to get everything done before the big government processing deadline. Ugh.
But hey, there’s a lot to write about this week. And with my sorry excuse of a social life, well, I really don’t have much else better to do on a Saturday night. Sooooo…
Don’t Have to Live Like a Refugee
President Trump’s executive order suspending the “issuance of visas and other immigration benefits to the nationals of countries of Particular concern” seems to have gotten one or two people just a little bit excited. The “countries of particular concern” of which the executive order speaks are, drum roll please….Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen Sudan and Somalia.
But it wasn’t really the suspension of visa issuance that brought out the Social Justice Warriors (SJWs) en masse, it was the order’s call for a review of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program that really got everyone fired up. In part, the order reads,
The Secretary of State shall suspend the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) for 120 days. During the 120-day period, the Secretary of State, in conjunction with the Secretary of Homeland Security and in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence, shall review the USRAP application and adjudication process to determine what additional procedures should be to ensure that those approved for refugee admission do not pose a threat to the security and welfare of the United States, and shall implement such additional procedures.
So, let’s see, the Trump administration wants to revise the refugee program in such a way as to ensure that the interests of American people are served first by keeping out jihadis and other ne’er-do-wells, and the SJW crowd finds this appalling.
I would like to ask all you fine folks weeping and wailing for the refugees, just where does the safety of the American people – you know, those deplorables who all called on to foot the bill for the refugees out of their taxes- fall on your scale of concerns?
Obviously, in your mind the inalienable right of refugees to come to the US, blow off their transportation bill – apparently 47% of the loans given for transportation to the US are unpaid, which according to the Refugee Resettlement Watch blog amounted to about $450 million in of 2009 – subsequently go on welfare at an alarming rate – a 2009 government survey reports that 57.7% of refugees are on government medical assistance, 70.2% are on food stamps, 31.6% use public housing, and 38.3% receive cash assistance – and then to go full jihad on unsuspecting Americans – see here for a list of truly appalling crimes committed by refugees against the American people – far outranks the right of ordinary Americans to go about their lives without fear of Allahu Akbar shouting, machete wielding maniacs taking a swing at them in the local shopping mall or university campus.
Those who defend the current refugee policy will be quick to point out that only a small percentage of the refugees brought to the US have committed violent crimes. True enough. But there once was a time not so very long ago when most Americans had never heard the word “jihad,” but now it is common parlance. And if there are reasonable measures the government can take to better screen individuals from nations with high concentrations of Islamic radicals, it strikes this writer as good policy to implement them.
Welcome the Stranger
Few arguments for the current taxpayer funded, ongoing refugee/immigration disaster are more annoying than “Welcome the Stranger.” Confused people, such as the woman in the picture at the top of this post, seem to think that “Welcome the Stranger” means creating a gigantic governmental bureaucracy to steal money from its citizens and to give it to foreigners. This, in their twisted mind, is what is called justice, or more likely, social justice.
But while demanding that the government steal other people’s money so they can feel warm and fuzzy inside is all in a day’s work for your average SJW, invoking the “Welcome the Stranger” argument shows they have no idea what Christian charity actually is.
Christian charity, welcoming the stranger in the true Biblical sense, involves one giving of one’s own time, money and expertise to help others. If the SJWs want to help refugees out of their own resources, more power to them. But for these socialist poseurs to presume to lecture Christians about the meaning of charity, well, that’s just a little too much to take.
Refugees And The Will Of God
Toyota is world renowned for its Toyota Production System, an approach to manufacturing that has allowed the company to earn a well-justified reputation as a world-class manufacturer. And one of the keys to Toyota’s system is what’s called The Five Whys.
The idea behind the Five Whys is pretty simple. Instead of settling for a quick fix to a problem, keep asking why you have the problem until you arrive at the root cause. Generally, it takes more than one “why” to get to the heart of the matter. And sometimes it takes more than five.
When it comes to the refugee crisis, we could start by asking, Why are there so many refugees? The answer, at least in part, is that they are fleeing their homelands.
Why are they fleeing their homelands? Because in many cases their countries have been destroyed by war.
Why have their countries been destroyed by war? To a large extent, this is the result of the US’s foreign policy of regime change.
Why does the US conduct a foreign policy of regime change? Because the neoconservatives have enshrined world hegemony as the overriding goal of American foreign policy.
Why have the neoconservatives been successful in pushing their agenda of American world hegemony? Because American intellectuals and politicians long ago adopted a Messianic view of foreign policy.
Why did American intellectuals and politicians adopt a Messianic view of foreign policy? Because they forgot that God alone is sovereign.
So why did they forget that God alone is sovereign? Because they embraced secular philosophy instead of Christ.
Why did American intellectuals and politicians embrace secular philosophy instead of Christ? It was God’s will that they do so.
Why did God will this to happen? It is part of his eternal decree that this take place.
So am I suggesting that it is God’s will that America and Europe have a refugee crisis that stems from incompetent political leadership? Yes I am.
Which leads me to one last question, Is God responsible for the current refugee immigration mess? Answer: Of course not.
Refugees: A Few Final Questions
Why are SJWs so bent out of shape at Donald Trump for trying to keep out the Islamic terrorists, but uttered nary a peep while Nobel Laureate Barak Obama spent entire presidency bombing and droning the middle east, the very actions that do so much to create more Islamic terrorists?
Or what about our gal Hillary Clinton? You know, the one who arrogantly fulminated “Assad must go!” and promptly got us into a war in Syria.
Recall also what she said about Muamar Gadaffi, “We came. We saw. He died.” With no effective government in place, thanks to Mrs. Clintons war mongering Libya has become a superhighway for refugees seeking to enter Europe.
Oh, And One More Thing – SJWs Use Bad Grammar
Among the many offensive aspects of SJWs, surely one of the most annoying is their near universal inability to properly use the English language. Take, for example, one sign I saw unfurled in a video of the Berkley riots. It read “[Let] that Nazi know their place, punch them in the (expletive deleted) face.”
Now as I recall, pronouns are supposed to agree in number with their antecedents. But in this charming little doggerel, the plural pronouns “their” and “them” refer back to the singular term “that Nazi.” As such, the sign should have read “Let that Nazi know his place, punch him in his (expletive deleted) face. Or, if the snowflakes really wanted to be creative, they could have substituted the plural “those Nazis” into the sentence, and then the plural pronouns would have worked just fine.
But the real reason for the poor use of pronouns by the leftist agitators is most likely the SJW English they’ve been taught from their youth up. And in SJW world, one never, ever uses the singular male pronoun “his” in a general context. Why, to do that would be to – heaven forbid! – lend support to the patriarchy!
It never seems to occur to these clowns to ask themselves, why, if they can’t do something simple like get their pronouns and antecedents to agree, anyone should trust them on the weightier matters of political philosophy?
It Usually Begins With Antichrist
As one who’s spent years as an amateur political/policy junkie, I can safely say that it is a nearly axiomatic rule that anytime you investigate the root causes of a major cultural or political crisis, you will nearly always find the political philosophy and political activism of the Roman Church-State and its Antichrist papal heard closely associated with it.
The current refugee crisis is no exception.
That is why it was so heartening to see Tucker Carlson destroy former US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) lobbyist Kevin Appleby on the refugee issue. Probably no organization in America has worked harder over the past several decades to inundate the US with taxpayer funded refugees than the USCCB. And for years they have done so with almost no public scrutiny. Now that’s changing.
Carlson scores several good points during the discussion. One of the most memorable was when he went after Appleby for religious organizations claiming it is their Christian duty to support refugees and then foisting the cost off on taxpayers. Carlson didn’t single out the Roman Church-State for this anti-Christian practice, although he could have as it is by far the worst offender of all religious organizations – note well, I do not say Christian organizations – in this regard. Appleby hemmed and hawed, but in the end had no answer to Carlson’s question. In the video below, this portion of the discussion begins around the 5:15 mark.
Tell Us Something We Don’t Already Know
Martin Armstrong reported this week on an interesting admission by a UN global warming muckety-muck. According to Armstrong, at a news conference in Brussels United Nations official Christiana Figueres finally stated publically what many of us have thought for years: The whole global warming racket is a hoax designed, not to save humanity from the scourge of warmer Januarys, but to destroy capitalism.
The UN high priestess was quoted saying,
This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution…
This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.
So, there you have it right from the horse’s mouth.
But there’s more to the UN agenda than merely destroying capitalism. Their aim, apparently, is not merely to destroy capitalism, but to replace it with a globalist version of socialism. Which, come to think of it, is also the same goal the Vatican has talked about openly for years.
Could it be that the UN and Rome are working hand in hand to bring about a world government to administer a world-wide welfare state and are using the climate change hoax as their scam of choice to make it happen? Nah, that could never be. Only whackadoo conspiracy theorists would believe something that outrageous.
