There’s some debate whether this was another Biden gaff thrown in by the President on his own, or whether they were part of his prepared speech.
On the side of those who argue that it was a gaff, Biden is well known for having foot in mouth disease.
Then there’s also the fact that he seems to have lost a step or two cognitively and often seems confused.
In the wake of his remark, various government officials went public denying that there are any American plans to regime change Russia. Per the Washington Post, one White House office implausibly claimed Biden meant only that “Putin should not be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region.”
Today, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken moved to deny any regime change intent by Biden. “As you know, and as you have heard us say repeatedly, we do not have a strategy of regime change in Russia – or anywhere else, for that matter,” Blinken said.
On the other hand, Biden’s regime change threat fits a pattern of provocative words and actions by Western leaders over the past eight years. In a recent Twitter thread, one commentator summarized U.S. strategy vis-a-vis Russia ss, “all about unbalancing, sanctioning and bleeding Russia (their words). The goal is to replace Putin with a pro-US leader who would allow Russia to be ransacked.”
From my own observations, this assessment is correct.
With that in mind, it’s not impossible that Biden’s call for regime change was part of the text of his speech.
My own assessment is that even hyper-aggressive neoconservative foreign policy thinkers and speechwriters would probably not be so foolish as to put in words their ultimate goal of regime-changing Russia.
Possibly Biden just made another gaffe by letting the cat out of the bag regarding America’s true aims toward Russia. Another way of thinking about this is that Biden “accidentally on purpose” called for regime change. In other words, it was always his and his handlers’ intention that he say was he said and then try to explain it away as a gaff. This sounds conspiratorial, but given the Deep State’s enormous capacity for lying and trickery – the 2020 election was a complete fraud, Biden was cheated into office – I cannot dismiss this possibility out of hand.
What are Christians to make of this? As I have written in this space several times, foreign policy is not really all that hard. The Golden Rule, as President Millard Fillmore wrote in 1850, “ought to have a national as well as a personal and individual application. We should act toward other nations as we wish them to act toward us. has a public as well as a personal application.”
Doubtless, those who run our current foreign policy establishment would laugh out loud at Fillmore’s statement. But their wisdom is foolishness.
It is our foreign policy establishment, whose theories and actions all assume that God does not matter, who have led America to the brink of war in Europe.
But God does matter, in foreign policy as in all things. Had the think-tankers who developed American foreign policy paid more attention to the Scriptures and less attention to the ideas of men, we would not be in a position where people are openly discussing the real possibility of nuclear war.
America’s foreign policy establishment needs to cut the regime-change rhetoric and learn to treat others as they would like foreign nations to treat America.
Who knows? Maybe Millard Fillmore was right after all.

The Dem’s are the new “ Neo Cons” wanting to install a “new world order” asap by any means necessary. If you disagree with asap or by any means necessary, you are “ in collusion with Russia” and a Putin puppet. Russia is paranoid by the expansion of Capitalism and its liberties and freedom. Why directly threaten a nuclear armed adversary, which gives them fuel for their propaganda to their people?
When Biden was VP, he made a statement that “if you wear orange, you are not welcomed” (paraphrase) in reference to William the Orange” who defeated the Irish Catholics and King James II in July of 1690. Of course, Biden is an Irish Catholic. Now he thinks he is the Polish King Sigismund who invaded Russia in 1609. Obviously, Biden has a hatred on Protestants and those of the Eastern Orthodox that do NOT acknowledge the Pope as the Head of the Church. Biden and the Papacy are working a liberal Union of Church & State. Who knows, maybe the Almighty is using Putin to frustrate the Papal Agenda for World Domination? https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/biden-if-youre-wearing-orange-youre-not-welcome-in-here-31073377.html
Thanks for sending the link, Tommy. I hadn’t seen that. I like your thinking on the conflict in Ukraine – that Biden and the Papacy are working on a liberal Union of Church and State. Much of the Biden agenda is simply putting into practice all the bad theory of the Vatican: mass, taxpayer subsidized immigration, the Green New Deal based on Laudato Si, and war on those who do no acknowledge the Pope. Here domestically, the Biden regime has attacked Trump supporters, many of whom are descendants of the historic American, Protestant nation. Internationally, they are attacking the Russians who are part of Eastern Orthodoxy.
You raised the question whether the Lord might be using Putin to frustrate the Papal Plan for world government. I think this could very well be the case.
Steve, as you know, Richard Bennett and a handful of others sounded the Trumpet Blast in our day and age on the Vatican’s Agenda – following in the tradition of the Protestant Reformation and the Reformers. Just recently researched Leon Panetta under Clinton and Obama; and he is also Jesuit educated. Biden as VP and Reagan with the Embassy to the Vatican have set this in motion. Reagan claimed to be Presbyterian. Of course, his affiliation with the Presbyterian Church USA would explain the compromise and so-called conservatism. Not my position to judge, but the fruits didn’t show it. I would assume that Rutherford and other Scot Protestants would have a solid REBUKE on these political pawns of the Vatican.
